The role:

To provide support for policy work and assist in the research and drafting relating to a range of projects for this particular policy area – this will include:

-       Developing the Law Society’s tech strategy building a cohesive picture of what we are doing across the org, when we are doing it and why

-       Leading on developing a programme of technology and law policy development events

-       Attending external stakeholder meetings with senior management to build a robust network to gain insights and spread the news of our work

-       Liaising with research team on bringing insights and up to date information on tech and law to the team and wider

-       Providing updates to ELT and Office Holders

-       Writing speeches, articles and blogs

-       Working closely with Public Affairs and other teams to build a bridge between what we do in policy and what others are doing

-       Project planning our work this whole area

-       Responding to consultations on issues related to the legal tech field.

 

What we're looking for:

  • Legal tech awareness
  • Ability to deal with proactive and reactive work and to take on new priorities as they arise;
  • An understanding of legal practice and knowledge of the legal environment and the role of the legal profession in it;
  • Ability to communicate effectively (in writing and verbally) with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Proven track record of project planning and working across teams

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Provide evidence of your knowledge of the issues covered by the post

Provide evidence of relevant experience of working in a policy or business development environment

Provide evidence of strong understanding of the legal and economic system and the role of solicitors in it

Provide evidence of knowledge and understanding of the relevant policy and legislative environment

Give an example of your ability to analyse complex issues and assess their implications for the profession and Law Society policy on that issue
