The role

The Law Society is looking for an Assistant Librarian to provide professional support and complement a team who pride themselves on providing an excellent library and information service.
The library is principally for members and staff of the Law Society, so strong people skills with a desire to help, is a must. We want someone to bring their previous law library experience and play a key role in ours.

You will be comfortable using library management systems and confident in refering customers to appropriate source materials, external organisations and appropriate staff members. As an integral part of this professional team, you will analyse and interpret library research enquiries and carry out detailed research; utilising available resources. A sound working knowledge of Lexis, Westlaw and Justis will be a distinct advantage.  You will play a key role in contributing to the library engagement programme - giving presentations about the library service to both internal and external groups.

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Post graduate experience working in a legal library position.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to deal with complex enquiries under pressure.

Educated to at least degree level (or equivalent)

Substantial knowledge and experience of using electronic information sources and IT applications.
