The SRA regulates solicitors and the firms in which they operate. It is an organisation of 650 people that plays a critical role in ensuring consumer protection across a sector with a widespread impact on society and the economy. There is the potential for substantial and exciting regulatory reform in coming years, and the SRA will be at the forefront of any change.

Following a recent period of internal reorganisation, the SRA is now at an exciting juncture and has created a new opportunity for a Director of Resources. Reporting in to the Executive Board, this position will focus on leading and developing the SRA’s central resource function. This is a high profile role which will be closely aligned to the Chief Executive and Executive Director of Strategy and Resources, and will take ownership of the organisation’s Finance, Human Resources, Management Information and Corporate Risk Functions.

This is a multi-disciplinary role suiting an individual with a strong finance background. The broad portfolio includes: providing first class leadership of Finance and Corporate Planning; overseeing the management of key business resource functions, ensuring performance provides value for money; working closely with the SRA’s shared services function to ensure services are delivered in line with the organisation’s requirements; overseeing effective business continuity; leading, motivating and developing staff in order to build upon a culture of excellence.

This role suits a Qualified CCAB (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) accountant with strong technical finance skills and a background in strategic organisation management. Additionally you will be a creative thinker with an entrepreneurial and commercial approach, able to identify opportunities and demonstrate the ability to lead strategic growth.

It is essential that you are an accomplished communicator with the ability to forge effective multi-stakeholder relationships both within the SRA and with external organisations. You will also have experience within a multidisciplinary role, overseeing a range of functions beyond finance such as Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities and Corporate Risk.
