Do you enjoy producing research to influence key business and policy decisions? This role gives you the opportunity to design, commission and manage research projects to provide ground breaking market intelligence to understand the legal services market.

In this role you will:

  • use your advanced research skills to produce high quality reports 
  • cover a diverse range of topics such as economic impact assessment of the legal services market, legal education and training, consumer decision making and law firms' behaviour and compliance with SRA regulations.

The role

The post holder will be based in the Research and Analysis Team. We produce high quality research and data analysis to support evidence-based regulatory policy making.

As an experienced Researcher you will produce research reports to inform regulatory policy and actions. By conducting quantitative and qualitative research you will increase our understanding of the legal services market. Examples of our previous research includes: quality of legal advice provided to asylum seekers, lawyer-client relationships in corporate law firms and innovation in legal services.

You will work with external stakeholders, such as academics, research agencies and consultants to commission and manage the delivery of high quality research projects. You will have experience in all aspects of project management including, scoping and writing invitations to tender, evaluating tender responses, finalising contractual and budgetary arrangements, supporting the design of methodological approaches and research tools, quality assuring key research outputs and preparing documents for publication.

Your research findings will be used to influence key decision makers such as senior management and external stakeholders. You will be a good communicator able to present complex research in an accessible way to non-technical audiences.

What we expect:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (psychology, economics, social science or other relevant quantitative discipline and/or relevant experience)
  • Experience of designing quantitative and qualitative research studies
  • Experience of commissioning research from universities, consultancies or other research agencies 
  • Experience of managing projects and delivering work on time and to budget
  • Experience of facilitating focus groups and stakeholder interviews
  • Ability to carry out statistical analysis
  • Ability to write and present research reports
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Degree or equivalent in psychology, economics, social science or other relevant quantitative discipline and/or relevant experience

Practical experience of designing quantitative and qualitative research methodologies

Ability to write and present research papers

Experience of commissioning research from universities, consultancies or other research agencies

Experience of managing projects and delivering work on time and to budget

Experience of facilitating focus groups and stakeholder interviews

Ability to carry out statistical analysis

Clear verbal & written communication skills

Proactive and able to make decisions

Understanding of how to take equality and diversity issues into account when carrying out research.
