The role

As a Payroll Adviser you will administer an accurate and timely payroll for all staff, as well as payments for examiners and lay members. You will also make sure all legal, HMRC and Group financial requirements are fulfilled to the highest possible standards and in line with agreed SLAs.

On top of running payroll, you will prepare the appropriate documentation and payments for leavers, deal with any requests for information from employees, HMRC and other Government agencies and control data input to the absence management system Inc, Sickness, Maternity, Adoption & Parental Leave .

Having previously worked in a similar role you will have experience of pension auto enrolment procedures and working with HMRC Real Time Information (RTI). You will also have a working knowledge of current legislation in respect of tax, NI, and other statutory payments and processes.

To be successful in this role you will be a proactive, keen self starter who has excellent numeracy skills with an acute understanding of all calculations.

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Educated to A level or equivalent standard , ideally with a recognised payroll qualification eg. CIPP, AAT at practising certificate level

Experienced at administering payroll in a complex organisation

Working knowledge of current legislation in respect of tax, NI, and other statutory pay rules

Excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel

Excellent organisational and planning skills, strong attention to detail

Able to deal effectively with customers at all levels and work to challenging deadlines

Working knowledge of pensions and benefits

Desirable

Experience of Northgate Pse payroll

Experience of working in projects and of initiating process improvements

Experience of working in a Shared Service team
