This role supports the SRA’s wider strategy by increasing awareness and understanding of our work among external audiences.

Working closely with key stakeholders, senior management, tand teams across the SRA, you will develop and deliver detailed stakeholder engagement and political lobbying programmes to raise the SRA profile and reputation both internally and externally. You will also take a leading role in drafting speeches and briefings for SRA senior management team and board members.

Your strong interpersonal skills will ensure that you effectively manage complex and challenging relationships, whilst prioritising competing demands. This role demands a high degree of creativity, a flexible and pro-active approach and the ability to work with minimal supervision. It is essential that you possess significant experience of stakeholder management and a thorough understanding of parliamentary processes, as well as being able to demonstrate first-class speechwriting skills. You should possess excellent IT and presentational skills and be confident and innovative with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels. The role is based in Martin Lane, London with regular travel to SRA Birmingham offices.

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Education to degree level or equivalent

Proven experience of effective engagement with key political and parliamentary stakeholders

Excellent knowledge of the workings of Westminster

Significant experience of stakeholder management in a communications, corporate or political environment

Demonstrable experience of drafting speeches for senior level staff

First-class written and verbal communication skills

Experience of working with diverse groups

This role requires excellent strategic communication and organisational skills

Capacity to establish and manage complex and difficult relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, with competing priorities, needs and demands

The SRA is the independent regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales, protecting consumers and supporting the rule of law and the administration of justice. We do this by overseeing all education and training requirements necessary to practise as a solicitor, licensing individuals and firms to practise, setting the standards of the profession and regulating and enforcing compliance against these standards.
