The role
As a Cost Recovery Officer you will be responsible for pursing solicitors for a range of costs and internal fines on behalf of the SRA. Managing an ongoing caseload of 50-100 cases, you’ll liaise promptly with Solicitors following attendance at the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal to agree an instalment plan or settlement of monies due. You will use your communication and negotiation skills, to agree repayment in a timely manner, ideally without the use of enforcement action. In the absence of engagement you will have a range of enforcement options available, and will be required to instruct external solicitors where necessary.
You will monitor and report on all cases, meet time targets for action and ensure all files are accurate and up-to-date. You will also be willing to liaise with other teams within the SRA and finance where appropriate.

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Paralegal or equivalent experience

Experience of debt recovery work or working in a litigation environment would be an advantage

Team player

Organised and methodical in approach to casework

Good IT skills

Good communication skills and ability to write clearly

Demonstrates SRA values and positive behaviours

Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
