The Role
You will be responsible for supporting the management of a broad programme of work for the SRA’s Regulation and Education team. We have a major policy reform programme underway to change the way we regulate including a review of our Handbook and qualification requirements for solicitors. As a Programme Support Officer you will develop relationships with senior project sponsors and work closely with our Policy Managers to plan, agree project deliverables, scope and measures of success. You will monitor the performance of the projects against the plans, whilst ensuring that timing, costs, deliverables and expected benefits remain aligned throughout the project. You will produce and update clear and concise project documentation, timetables, risk and issue logs, whilst also having the capability to review any lessons learned and make any recommendations to drive continuous improvement. You will also run the monthly Policy Programme board which will involve agreeing the agenda, collating and circulating papers, and writing minutes of the meetings. • Self-starter who's confident working with senior staff
• Good communication skills both verbal and written
• Organised across multiple priorities and attention to detail
• Experience of creating project documentation
• Ability to understand and challenge competing perspectives

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Experience of project support or management

Demonstrable ability to support the execution of policy projects through effective project management

Experience of creating project documentation

Good oral and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Good IT skills, including the use of MS Office suite of programmes

Desirable

Understanding of one or more of: regulation, consumer policy, economics, legal services market, education and training

Project management qualification such as PRINCE 2

Experience of providing committee secretarial support

The SRA is the independent regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales, protecting consumers and supporting the rule of law and the administration of justice.
