Your role

We are currently recruiting for a number of Team Leaders to join our Investigation and Supervision department. Team Leaders have an integral role in leading and managing our Investigation Officers who are at the forefront of investigating reports about misconduct and regulatory breaches.

As a Team Leader you will manage and develop your team of Investigation Officers who manage a portfolio of investigations. You will provide operational and technical leadership, oversight of key decision making, and you will lead and support on the most complex matters.

With previous experience of managing investigations, you will drive your team to deliver high levels of quality work and customer focus and will make sure cases are progressed in a timely manner. All documentation and reports produced by your team will be to the highest standards and you will have responsibility for optimising their performance in line with set objectives and KPIs.

With experience of mentoring and developing people, as well as performance management, you will provide strategic input into your team’s work. Working with the senior management you will communicate regular updates and reviews, particularly around high profile and sensitive matters.

You will have strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to challenge and influence key stakeholders at every level. We are also looking for strong analytical skills with the ability to explain complex issues succinctly in a challenging environment.

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Proven experience managing investigations.

Educated to degree standard or relevant experience.

Significant experience of influencing and constructively challenging internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.

Proactive decision making and an ability to analyse large amounts of complex information and make sound judgments based on clear rationale - demonstrating a good sense of risk-based judgment and business acumen to identify key issues and solutions.

Good communication skills – the ability to adapt style to explain complex issues succinctly and with clarity both in writing and orally.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment where priorities may change at short notice, along with the ability to plan and deliver effective outcome-focused results – resilient and tenacious.

Understanding of regulatory and operational risk and its impact upon the area and ability to advise others on it.

Proven experience of operating autonomously and collaborating as part of a functional or cross functional team.

Proven experience of managing and leading a team including the proven ability to manage performance and to successfully coach and develop a team to meet performance standards.

Demonstrable experience of delivering change through leadership.

Willingness to learn and develop, taking on new responsibilities and adopting a flexible, pragmatic approach to work.

Is customer focused.

Demonstrates a positive ‘can do’ attitude towards work.

Desirable

Good knowledge of the legal framework and the SRA’s principles/rules against which the key regulatory risks in the regulation of legal services will be assessed.

Good awareness and understanding of the legal profession - the main participants in the market; firm’s operating models; and up to date knowledge of external legal, political and economic influencing factors.

Strong financial analysis skills - ability to critically examine, interpret and challenge financial statements.

Law practise experience.
