The purpose of the role is to embed key policies and procedures and improve the internal control environment. The role holder will be responsible for delivering and communicating a programme of policies to improve knowledge and understanding across all areas of the SRA. Undertaking timely reviews of policy and process knowledge, the post holder will provide regular reports on progress, including making recommendations to the Chief Executive and senior managers.

Suitably experienced in a previous policy / communications role you will have the following pre requisites:
• Knowledge of modern internal communications best practice methods.
• Proven track record in communicating with senior stakeholders
• Delivery focused with excellent planning and organisational skills
• Credible with the ability to engage with others at all levels of the organisation.

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Strong communication skills, written & oral, with the ability to establish trusted relationships and engage and influence colleagues and staff

Confident in interpreting and presenting information to key stakeholders

Ability to work autonomously and manage workloads effectively and with an excellent attention to detail

Good IT and Project Management skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Self- motivated, with the ability to work both as part of a team and on their own

Ability to influence others and gain their commitment and enthusiasm

Able to work well under pressure, assess workload priorities and consistently meet targets in a timely manner

Ability to produce concise reports

Practical knowledge of working in a regulatory environment
The SRA is the independent regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales, protecting consumers and supporting the rule of law and the administration of justice. We do this by overseeing all education and training requirements necessary to practise as a solicitor, licensing individuals and firms to practise, setting the standards of the profession and regulating and enforcing compliance against these standards.
