External Communications Officer
There is an exciting opportunity to join the team as an External Communications Officer on a permanent basis within the External Affairs directorate.
The External Communications Officer is responsible for:
• providing media relations and media management support and advice as part of a busy press office team;
• promoting the SRA effectively through proactive, targeted media activity, pre-empting and managing issues in order to uphold corporate reputation effectively;
• ensuring senior management is fully informed on emerging communications issues and is briefed and prepared in responding to those issues;
• promoting the SRA using different communications channels effectively, both across, and targeted at, different audiences, and producing detailed communications plans where required;
• ensuring core corporate messages are uniformly embedded into all external communications approaches, activities and materials by providing a dedicated communications resource to internal departments;
• upholding the SRA brand and maintain tone of voice in producing and managing content and design across all medium;
• ensuring media issues can be monitored and measured through time-specific recording of media enquiries and responses; and
• taking responsibility for updating the External Affairs high level communications plan and events log, ensuring activities are co-ordinated across teams.
Essential
Educated to degree level or equivalent
First class verbal, written and presentation skills that have preferably been developed working in a complex regulatory environment or industry sector
Significant experience devising and implementing multi-channel communications plans and promotions
Significant experience writing for a variety of audiences across a variety of media including digital and social media
Significant experience working with national and regional print and broadcast media
Desirable
Experience working with CRM systems
Experience working within a regulatory environment
