The Solicitors Regulation Authority is looking for a Technical Training Team Manager to work closely with the business in order to identify training needs and ensure these needs are supported. By establishing fit for purpose technical training programmes and identifying skills gaps, we can ensure our staff have the required technical capabilities to deliver the SRA’s overall strategic objectives. Having worked in a similar role, you will possess solid technical training skills with an understanding of both legal frameworks and regulatory environments and, associated thematic risk. A natural influencer who understands the importance of stakeholder management, you will have a background in data and risk analysis, with the ability to forge productive working relationships through excellent communication skills.

What we’re looking for:
• Relevant regulatory experience with an understanding of the legal profession
• Significant experience in influencing and driving change with both internal and external stakeholders
• The ability to analyse large amounts of complex information and demonstrate a good sense of risk-based judgement
• Strong analytical skills – able to understand, examine, interpret and challenge a range of quantitative and qualitative data
• Proven experience of operating autonomously and collaborating as part of a cross-functional team

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject

Proven experience of designing and delivering training programmes

Understanding of a wide range of training techniques and an ability to find creative solutions to delivering training

Ability to work in a matrix reporting environment to deliver outcomes

Ability to manage budgets

Demonstrates energy, commitment, resilience and reliability under pressure

Ability to work independently and with operational teams to drive continuous improvement

Strong influencing and communication skills and track record of forging strong working relationships with stakeholders

A confirmed track record of successfully setting and achieving targets

Able to prepare clear and concise documents and present arguments verbally in a persuasive manner; tailored appropriately for the audience

Understanding of the principle of equality and diversity, and their application in public policy

Desirable

IT skills including Microsoft applications

Experience of working in complex regulatory / legislative settings

Experience of delivering training in a large organisation

The SRA is the independent regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales, protecting consumers and supporting the rule of law and the administration of justice.
