The Law Society is the independent professional body and membership organisation for solicitors, with a membership of over 164,000 individual solicitors and over 10,000 legal firms, operating in domestic and overseas markets. It works globally to promote, support and represent our members, offering a wide range of products and services. The Law Society actively engages with stakeholders to promote and ensure the highest professional standards and to support access to justice and uphold the rule of law.
The Director of Product will be responsible for developing and delivering product direction and strategy for the Law Society, and will be accountable for the £15m P&L associated with its commercial product offering. Working closely with senior colleagues across the organisation, they will lead product development and make a significant contribution to the Law Society’s go to market strategy and development of new offerings. The Law Society has an ambitious strategy of growth for its commercial business; the Director of Product will be central to the success of that strategy.
The successful candidate will be an experienced commercial leader, with a track record of developing and implementing product strategy for information-based offerings. They will combine a rigorously analytical approach with strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, and will be able to build collaborative relationships both within the Law Society and with external partners. They will be able to build and galvanise teams, and will be comfortable working with Board-level stakeholders. Experience of the legal product sector is desirable, but not essential.
