We are seeking a confident and highly motivated individual to join our education and learning team to provide specialist advice in relation to education and learning. The role will develop and implement a strategic vision of the Law Society’s role in relation to legal education and learning, ensuring it is built on sound research and market analysis, reflects forward-thinking educational practice and supports the delivery of the strategic aims. You will have a track record of being able to actively scan the medium to long-term horizon for potential strategic developments in the education and learning landscape which may impact our members or the delivery of the Law Society’s strategy, or which may offer new market opportunities (including apprenticeships).

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Significant experience of policy work in professional education, training and development and a recognised subject matter expert in issues related to educational standards

Highly developed influencing and change management skills in order to Proven ability to influence influence a wide range of internal stakeholders with competing agendas and differing views and experience.

Ability to build, and manage and leverage complex external stakeholder relationships in the wider educational and political context in which education, professional standards and learning and development is shaped and delivered and represent the Law Society effectively with senior external stakeholders

Ability to research, analyse and evaluate complex issues and assess their implications for the profession and Law Society

Ability to deal with proactive and reactive work and to take on new priorities as they arise throughout the year

Willingness to attend out of hours events from time to time

In-depth understanding of the legal profession

Strong written and oral communications skills

Project management skills

Self-motivated with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team as needed

Ability to make decisions and recommendations with authority
