Are you a policy expert with an interest in the rule of law? Do you have a background in regulation and have a deep interest in the future of technology and the law? The Law Society is a global leader in thought leadership and policy development across a wide range of practice areas of the law, and trends which are shaping the future of legal services.

We are recruiting to 3 Head of Business Unit posts; you may apply to be considered for more than one.


Head of Private Law (Permanent)

The current portfolio for this role focuses heavily on immigration, human rights, children & family law, wills & equity, housing law, and criminal law – it is not essential to have experience of all of these.


Head of Regulatory Affairs (Permanent)

The current portfolio for this role focuses heavily on the responding to the needs of the profession in meeting the regulatory compliance and standards as set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). All professional regulation issues including education and training, indemnity insurance, ethics and professional standards fall within this role. This role will also lead on Anti-Money Laundering guidance and support for the profession. We are looking for someone with a background in regulation, although it is not necessary for this to be in the law.


Head of Commercial and Technology Law (12 months maternity leave cover) 

The current portfolio for this role focuses on leading the Law Society’s major programmes of policy development in relation to technology and the law, and commercial law (IP, Tax, Company, employment, EU and competition law, financial services, conveyancing and land law, and planning and environment law) - it is not essential to have experience of all of these.
