This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in a corporate affairs function and an interest in business performance management to help to drive the success of the corporate affairs function of one of the world’s largest and most respected professional bodies.

Working directly with the Chief of Corporate Affairs, the Executive Adviser’s role is to assist the Chief to drive high performance by gathering and analysing management information, helping managers to identify and mitigate risks and working to ensure high levels of compliance with internal controls.

Strong written communication skills, as well as the ability to understand complex issues rapidly, are crucial as the Executive Adviser is also responsible for preparing briefings, reports, updates and other papers on behalf of the Chief and ensuring that the Chief is fully briefed and up to speed on a wide range of issues of importance to the Law Society.

Experience of overseeing a budget and project management are highly desirable. The Executive Adviser will report to and work closely with the Society’s Chief of Corporate Affairs and the corporate affairs senior management team.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Relevant academic qualification with significant related experience or equivalent work experience

Experience of stakeholder management, in particular working and networking with senior executives and Board members

Ability to understand, assimilate and analyse strategic information and business issues

Ability to identify the key information/messages and be able to communicate these appropriately to others

High level of initiative, problem solving and decision making skills

Ability to exercise sound judgement across a range of complex and diverse issues

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Excellent organisation and planning skills; and attention to detail and accuracy

Delivery focused, highly resilient and 'can do' attitude

Professional manner, demonstrating high levels of confidentiality, discretion and integrity

Able to demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and motivate others to do so, in times of change

Track record of leading and delivering solutions, taking accountability for the successful resolution of very complex issues

Resilient and able to work in a constantly changing environment
